A much-awaited return to the series' stealth-focused roots. Set as a prequel to "Valhalla", the game explores the story of Basim Ibn Ishaq in 9th century Baghdad. Ubisoft promises a more intimate and linear experience, with gameplay that can be finished in about 20 hours.
Initial reviews are mostly positive, praising the decluttered map and the return of core stealth mechanics. The game brings back beloved elements like the Assassin’s Creed Leap of Faith and throwing knives.
However, some critics found the combat system to be repetitive, while others felt certain skills were mundane. Despite minor criticisms, Mirage is seen as a refreshing reset for the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
Scheduled for release on October 5, it will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows and iOS.
