Time Played: ~6 months (v1.0–v1.4), briefly revisited in v2.0
Device: Mid-range (old), Flagship (new)
Status: Casual follower (only ed, not playing)
🟩 Pros:
Fair Gacha System: 5★ at 80 pulls with a 50/50 chance for featured Resonators.
Visuals & Animation: Gorgeous art style, smooth animations, and even the jiggle physics are well done for those who appreciate it.
Combat System: Fast-paced and satisfying. Boss difficulty feels balanced, and skill expression is rewarded.
Character Design: Unique and memorable. Pulled Jinhsi, Changli, Zhezi, and Shorekeeper during my initial run.
🟥 Cons:
Early Optimization Issues: Game ran poorly on my older device, which led to me quitting after v1.4.
Story Engagement: I only followed the story until v1.4. It was decent. I can’t speak for current narrative quality.
Revisit Lacked Impact: On returning in v2.0 with a better phone, the magic just wasn’t there anymore. May be nostalgia or personal burnout.
💬 Final Thoughts:
Wuthering Waves is still a very solid gacha ARPG, especially for fans of open-world combat-focused games. The systems are well-built, character design is great, and combat is fun. However, for me, the experience didn’t hit the same on return. That said, I’ll keep following the game’s updates on YouTube.
If you're new and enjoy games like Genshin or Tower of Fantasy, this is definitely worth a shot.
